The Asterix Trail is a scenic 15 km trail running loop through the landscape surrounding AjdovšÄina. With moderate elevation gain and varied but predominantly runnable terrain, it offers an excellent introduction to trail running in the Upper Vipava Valley.
Starting in AjdovšÄina, the route quickly leaves the town and enters the cultivated landscape of the valley, following a mix of rural paths, vineyard tracks, forest trails and quiet local roads. The southern part of the loop climbs into the rolling hills above the valley floor, where open sections provide views towards the steep edge of the Trnovo Plateau and the surrounding mountains.
The route then turns back towards AjdovšÄina through the villages and agricultural landscape of the Upper Vipava Valley.
Short, varied and highly runnable, the Asterix Trail is ideal for recreational trail runners and experienced runners looking for a faster trail session.

The Asterix Trail starts in AjdovšÄina and initially heads south from the town towards the Vipava River and the rural landscape of the Upper Vipava Valley.
After leaving the valley floor, the route gradually enters the rolling hills south of AjdovšÄina. Vineyard tracks, local paths and short forest sections create a varied but predominantly runnable trail.
The southern section reaches the highest terrain of the route at approximately 270 metres. From here, open sections provide views across the Upper Vipava Valley towards AjdovšÄina and the edge of the Trnovo Plateau.
The route then turns north, descending from the hills towards the valley floor. After crossing the lower agricultural landscape, it follows a different line back towards AjdovšÄina.
The final kilometres are relatively fast and lead back into the town, completing the 15 km loop.
